My ceramic work is currently featured at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum for the 38th Annual Contemporary Crafts exhibition. I was the Juror’s Choice Award Winner awarding me a 2018 solo exhibition in the Dr. Ruth Tan Lim Project Gallery. The current exhibition runs from February 10 - April 23, 2017. I was a featured artist and host site for the ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center (CRC) 16th Annual Self-Guided Ceramic Studio Tour, organized by the CRC Artists Advisory Committee. The event was held the weekend of February 25-26, 2017. This valley wide event presented the work of more than 50 professional ceramic artists in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The tour offered the public a rare opportunity to view working and living spaces of participating artists and view demonstrations of varying ceramic techniques. My ceramic studio in Tempe, AZ showcased my work and the work of 3 other AZ ceramic artists: Jason Bohnert, Ben Roti, and Magda Gluszek. I’m super Excited to announce my upcoming exhibition at Plinth Gallery in Denver, CO.
Plinth specializes in showcasing contemporary ceramic art. “Located in a “transitional neighborhood” once occupied with light industries, automobile salvage yards, and abandoned buildings, is a unique collection of artists and galleries. Among them is Plinth Gallery, an intimate exhibition venue for contemporary ceramic art. For more info. visit: http://www.plinthgallery.com/current-exhibition/ TIFFANY C. BAILEY "PASTORAL PERSPECTIVES" FEBRUARY 3, 2017 - MARCH 25, 2017 April 15th, 2016 - June 26, 2016 21st San Angelo National Ceramic Competion My work will be part of 21st San Angelo National Ceramic Competition. The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts hosts a juried ceramic competition every two years. The competition is open to all artists who are residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This years invited artist is Ron Meyers of Athens, Georgia. For more information click HERE. WAYSIDES at the Kohler Arts Center April 3–October 2 WAYSIDES features works of art inspired by the idea, whether literal or metaphorical, of Wisconsin waysides. As this vibrant selection demonstrates, those common rest stops seen throughout the Wisconsin landscape can take many forms, from natural wonders to cityscapes, from unexpected roadside attractions to daily sightings on the commute to work. They are sites of memory and regional identity, personal experience, and everyday life. Open to all artists who describe Wisconsin as ”home,” this call-for-entries exhibition drew responses from artists throughout the state and as far away as California and North Carolina. Cont'd. from last post. Another major project was introducing the studio to Cone 6 glazes. I utilized a lot of my Cone 6 recipes from a year of testing in graduate school, but also tested many new recipes and colors so I could create a diverse, yet well rounded collection of colors.
It has been quite some time since I posted an entry. So here it goes (a quick recap from the last year)...
I am a few months into my second year as the Area Head of Ceramics and full time Residential Faculty at Phoenix College. I spent the last year acclimating to college policy, updating and organizing the ceramic studio and adjusting to my new role. It was a great, but exhausting, yet still exciting time. One major project I accomplished was updating the Cone 10 glazes and test tile wall. It was a 2 1/2 month adventure and 1000s of test tiles were made. The test tile wall is comprised of approx. 650 test tiles. Hello everyone,
Summer has been great! I taught summer ceramics class at the Phoenix College and it was a wonderfully, wild, quick and compacted session. My students made some excellent work and they filled 4 gas kilns! I am super excited to announce that starting in August, I will be the Head Faculty of the Ceramic's Department at Phoenix College! I cannot wait to be fully submerged in my new position! With that news being said, I have one more week and I will be finished with my five fabulous summer classes and then I will be finishing up my time at the Mesa Art Center. I had such an amazing time the last year teaching and working there- I will miss it! Well, things are quite awesomely crazy for me at the present! I was recently promoted to Studio Manager at the Mesa Arts Center. Super great to be taking on a larger role there, it is such a fabulous, creative and positive place to spend one's time! I have my own office also-which is fancy! I will remain the Artist in Residence throughout the next year and I am currently teaching 4 classes there as well! In addition, I am still teaching Color Theory at Paradise Valley Community College and since mid March, I have been and will remain for the rest of the semester teaching once a week in the ceramic studios at Phoenix Community College and Mesa Community Colleges. |
