Cont'd. from last post. Another major project was introducing the studio to Cone 6 glazes. I utilized a lot of my Cone 6 recipes from a year of testing in graduate school, but also tested many new recipes and colors so I could create a diverse, yet well rounded collection of colors.
It has been quite some time since I posted an entry. So here it goes (a quick recap from the last year)...
I am a few months into my second year as the Area Head of Ceramics and full time Residential Faculty at Phoenix College. I spent the last year acclimating to college policy, updating and organizing the ceramic studio and adjusting to my new role. It was a great, but exhausting, yet still exciting time. One major project I accomplished was updating the Cone 10 glazes and test tile wall. It was a 2 1/2 month adventure and 1000s of test tiles were made. The test tile wall is comprised of approx. 650 test tiles. |
